February 19, 2024 - Elegant and seductive, even if it isn't as complex as one could hope. This wine drinks so well, and is a masterclass in dark/red-fruited Burgundy. It's showing well now, but I'm sure it will show some more sous bois down the line. No rush.

January 5, 2024 - Part of a Pinot Noir night with my wine group. This was the lone Burgundy at the dinner. We all loved it. Medium bodied, I would describe it as elegant, even at this young age.

December 24, 2023 - Once again the CdeN bullseye, showing that perfectly balanced 2017 fruit and pleasing acid backbone in the medium garnet red robe and sweet lighter red fruited pinot palate. Bachelet has moved these wines into a higher category much like Chave has for St Joseph, PYCM for St Aubin, Allemande for Cornas and Foillard for Morgon. No decant needed.

November 10, 2023 - When I read Allen Meadows description of "sauvage-inflected aromas of black cherry" or Willam Kelley's note of "forest floor" for a young wine, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. Simply put, this is beautiful, full-bore Gevrey-Chambertin, so describing the flavors and aromas (other than insanely earthy, mushroomy, and complex) is superfluous. Fantastic body-- not too heavy or too watery. Good saline (especially in the finish) and glycerin. If you handed me this glass blind and told me it was a top premier cru Gevrey-Chambertin at six years old, I'd be happy with it. Neal Martin nails it, "Simply, Côte de Nuits does not get better than this." I'll be buying more when the opportunity presents itself. Easily the best young Burgundy I’ve had in a long time. Will it improve? Maybe. But it’s a crime not to try a bottle right now. Turns way more inward on extended breathing.

April 14, 2023 - A very good bottle. Atypical Bachelet. Drank over two hours. No need to decant. Needed 15 min to open. A modern burgundy on open that turned into a more old school wine at the last glass.
