September 3, 2021 - These are just so good. Little wine 8, a Cuvee of casks from 2018 (48%), 2017 (29%), 2016 (12%), 2015 (9%) & 2012 (2%) from plots within the Hoffmann’s ‘Dallwitz’ vineyard. Vines planted in 1996, 1995, 1960 & the oldest vines planted prior to 1912. Totally in love with these "little wines" (which are not all that "little" at all!!). These wines are massive actually. Pours jet black! Nose of black fruit perfume and roasted spiced nuts. Entry is dark black and purple roasted fruits. Chewy, thick, mouthcoating. Sweet and youthful to the middle where this one really gains an iodine and hint of savory character that has gone well with a pot roast and stewed potatoes and peppers over and OVer and OVER again. Finishes with nice acidity, charred tannic finish with a healthy dose of "herby" black pepper. Man oh man I'm not sure if I like the HD (Hoffman Dallwitz) wines more or the LWs, and gradually I think I've been ordering slightly more of these and slightly fewer HDs. Either wine is beautiful, and really always an absolute delight and treat. These don't last too long in the cellar when I bring them home from storage, and I think this one lasted all of 3 days! Drink or hold 10-15 years.

    July 29, 2021 - Little 8
Gave my dear friend a heads up that I’d bring a full bodied red wine (05 Langi). He put this on blind. I thought it was Barossa, Shiraz, and Standish from the last 3 years on first sniff.

Intense and obvious strawberry jam and prune nose. Thick and inky and full on entry, but intensity of flavour to match and in balance.

Savoury (pepper) and earthy (beetroot and leather) flavours.

Thundering savoury tannin with wide finish that stops you in your tracks to pay attention to the glass.

Love the tension and interplay between the old and young facets of this wine.

Much better this showing than the bottle we shared pre-pandemic.

Drink now if you don’t dig prune development, or will continue to morph over the next 10-15 such is the power and tannin on show here (I’m in the latter camp- will keep my sole bottle to see where it develops).

    Outstanding to Exceptional. 96.

    Thank you Duck for sharing.

July 17, 2021 - Glorious wine here, so perfumed and floral, could smell this for days. It is so fresh and vibrant, rich and dense yet elegant and balanced, ripe plums, black tea and herbs, grippy tannins. Fruit is just spectacular and winemaking is spot on, just beautiful.

May 25, 2021 - (5/5)- intense purple color that gets deeper it seems with air. A hallmark of these wines.
(15/15) - aromas on these wines are simply stunning and so complex. Red dirt, florals, blue and black fruits, fresh spices. I could sit and smell this for hours.
(18/20) - still room for age here as it was coming together after 6 hour decant but was nearly flawless after three days of slow ox. Balance is the best way to describe this wine. Everything fell into place but with a TON of air time.
(9/10) - the bear Little wine from Sami-Odi I’ve had but most of mine are still very young .
