September 16, 2023 - Decanted 1/2 hr. Drank over 2 days. Day 2 was pretty close to day 1. Consistent, lively dark fruit tastes. Quite drinkable.

July 2, 2023 - Beautiful wine and still going strong.
Dark berry fruit on the front end and sufficient tannins on the back.

June 19, 2023 - Delicous - focused, smooth. Like a pepper-seasoned blueberry cobbler with peach. Very well done.

June 5, 2023 - Nose hits with peet, asphalt, blue fruit, and wood upon opening. A little air knocks down the peet, but the rest remains. Deep concentrated purple color and aromas. Palate is stark and complex, with heavy notes of charcoal or asphalt, tobacco and fire, dark fruits but the wine is not jammy and punchy I will have to disagree with some of the notes. It is a Zin and of course it has a ripe fruit presence on a 2017 but is very balanced and has some strikingly complex earthy and savory tones that connect well with soft and integrated tannin and mellow acidity. Nice, medium long finish that allows the fruit and tobacco to pull through the deep mineral and charcoal front palate. Really good and complex and interesting wine.

October 22, 2022 - Mead Ranch is a concentrated zinfandel, rich in fruit but with prominent structure and brambly qualities. Lots going on to appeal to the senses. Would love to see how this one further develops but highly enjoyable experience now.

Appearance: Dark and inky, with prominent legs
    Nose: Mountain flowers
Palate: Surprisingly acidic for a zinfandel, chewy tannins, creating a nice balance with the voluptuous dark fruit. Ferrous earthiness from the volcanic terroir. A lot of bramble. Long finish. Really nice.
