  August 3, 2013 - Perfectly fine drinkable wine. Notes of cherry, mushroom, graphite and cassis. Popped and poured thru aerator so may need more time to open. Not sure if more ageing will improve its character.

  August 18, 2012 - Dark reddish purple in color. Massive and very beautiful nose of dark fruit, especially black cherry, but cassis, too. Also, cedar, tobacco, clove and a touch of leather on the nose. Palate includes all of the above, but also an earthy, slightly petrol taste, which is not all that pleasant. This petrol quality dissipates on the finish, which is nice & long. Well integrated tannins, which is a perfect match for the grilled steak, which I am just now consuming!

  June 27, 2012 - Popped and slox-ox'd for 2 hours. The nose is the star here, displaying powerful aromas of black cherry and lead pencil, along with some cassis and spicy black pepper. A bit of a let down on the palate, showing lots of tart red cherry, oak, cassis, red currants, as well as a touch of glove and cedar. Quite muted and a bit dull compared to the strong showing on the nose. Still plenty of tannins and acidity bringing this some balance, with a short+ finish ending on notes of tart red cherries and black pepper. A simple wine, but nice for the price. Good.

  April 2, 2012 - Drinking very well right now. Improved over two nights and after saved in a 375. Showing some complexity and aged notes with plenty of leather and ripe but balanced fruit. A nice budget Bordeaux. I liked this much more than expected, especially given the middling scores below. Wish I had bought a case at the ~$10 closeout price.

  January 14, 2012 - Toasted rye bread and sauteed shiitake mushrooms with red currant undertones. A pleasant light to medium body wine with good earthy character.
