March 28, 2024 - Gave it a good 45min decant and it was flat out amazing for the price. 5 Star QPR for sure.
December 30, 2022 - Can’t add anything to KGOLDSBE’s note, as it captures the wine perfectly.
September 4, 2022 - Fruit forward on both the nose and tongue. The nose is generic ripe red fruit, and is surprisingly pleasing. The tongue tastes like the nose with a little warm spice to it. This was a crowd pleaser that is drinking well now.
September 26, 2021 - Dusty dried flowers on the nose, ripe red cherries on the palate, and the finish is medium length, smooth tannin. Drinking well now, and a good Paso GSM blend. Not the most complex but not bad either
April 6, 2021 - Great GSM from a good Paso producer. Fruit forward low tannin with dark red fruit on the note that transitions to dark fruit by the aftertaste. No reason to hold
April 1, 2021 - Just a great GSM blend.
February 18, 2021 - Lovely
September 24, 2020 - similar to previous note, albeit with a bit more cedar; solid
August 11, 2020 - cherry, herb, earth, black tea; nice mid palate; some complexity; a bit rustic in a good way
June 5, 2020 - tldr: needed 45 min decant to start rounding into form; very nice depth and layers, really evolves on the palate; after four hours, much less fruit and more herb. amazing QPR for only $30. if this ages anything like the 2009 i had last year, it'll be a real treat in the years to come.
Color: med-deep ruby, still see-through at its center.
Nose: fragrant, fresh, black plum, blackberries, forest wood, spiced oak, touch of alcohol.
Body: med/full, not too heavy on the palate.
Acid: med+
Alcohol: 15.5%, but seemed more in the 14% range to me
Palate: young/sharp on the palate; juicy ripe dark fruit, cherry syrup, gives way to herbal bramble notes, then to a short savory profile, before finishing with cinnamon/ginger spiced oak and black tea bag tannins. med-long finish.
