August 30, 2019 - A standard Montalcino, with dark over-ripe fruits and berries and earthy aromas, the palate was medium-bodied with dark cherries, black fruit, liquorice, chocolate along with grippy tannins and a medium finish. rustic in style. 100% Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile)

  • La Cave d'Argent Likes this wine: 92 points

June 26, 2019 - Visiting Rome and Tuscany; 6/18/2019-7/2/2019 (Lazio and Tuscany, Italy): Sourced from the 37-acre Santa Pia vineyard within Antinori's La Braccesca property, this deep ruby wine (100% Sangiovese) has an attractive core of tarry black cherry and blackberry fruit, accented with notes of licorice, lavender, allspice and pipe tobacco. Medium-bodied, fresh and without alcoholic heat (14%), it wraps its flavors with silky-textured tannins and is layered on the middle palate. Impressively long on the back end, this is an outstanding wine that should be at its best over the next 7-8 years. Drink now-2027.
