April 28, 2024 - Really nice with a two hour decant but no rush.
March 6, 2024 - Double decanted for regular wine group about 4 hours. Was very good but wonder if more air would have helped. This stood along well with higher competition. This could go on for at least several more years at least.
January 6, 2024 - For a cool vintage wine, this shows in surprisingly powerful ways. Black cherry, spice and new oak on the nose. Flavors coming through are black raspberry/blackberry compote along with spice and a bit of menthol. Some chocolate? Anyway - really good stuff. It evolved significantly over the two hours in the glass. Definitely decanting next time - at least two hours.
December 31, 2023 - Maybe some bottle variation here? Last bottle was stellar, this was definitely more subdued. Nice cabernet aromas and was expecting a lot, but first sip somewhat of a letdown. Have a few more, so we will see...
December 25, 2023 - Great bottle to accompany our Christmas dinner. Definitely ready to drink after a 3 hour decant.
December 2, 2023 - Deep, dark garnet in color. Full, forward, & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blueberries & cassis with overtones of floral & earthy/dusty notes, tobacco, olives, leather, anise, herbs & a hint of cedar in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & plums with spices, herbs & minerals. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but may develop further with additional aging. A blend of 65% Cabernet, 30% Merlot and 5% Sangiovese.
October 29, 2023 - not quite as a big as the last bottle. shows more of the cool vintage. still excellent juice
July 30, 2023 - Given the wet and rainy 2014 vintage in Italy, I’ve gone out of my way to avoid Italian reds from this year, mostly because the few I’ve tried, so far, have been quite diluted. To the contrary, this was very good and far exceeded my expectations.
Poured into a decanter prior to enjoying with sautéed chicken, penne, mushrooms and tomato based red sauce. Clear, deep ruby color. Perfumed aromatics, dusty red fruits, tobacco, and leather; there’s enough concentration and structure to provide deep flavors and balance. Finishes very long. In development; should provide pleasurable drinking though 2029. Superior to any other red I’ve enjoyed from this vintage to date.
March 19, 2023 - Still young and fresh , after 5 hour decant , a dark color , balance and elegant wine to drink now ( with fine tannin that can keep for 5 or more years to mature)
