May 8, 2023 - Three and a half hour decant. Nearly opaque electric magenta color. Blackberry, dark raspberry, almond muffin, linen, and subtle fennel and graphite. Satiny, tongue drying, full bodied palate, with somewhat cottony acidity. Firm, modestly grippy, yet simultaneously plush tannins on the long finish.

There’s lots of upside, but this guy is still drinking tight. It also became a bit pruney over an hour of drinking. Needs at least another year in the cellar.

May 29, 2022 - NR for now. Definitely a wine to hold for another 3+ years before trying. It was Memorial Day weekend and I couldn't wait to try this, so that's on me since other notes suggest the same. I drank this over 3 nights and it didn't budge. Well made, and will definitely be a winner soon.

FWIW, I also picked up a 3 pack of the 2018 Block D. The write up for that made me more excited than the B.

May 19, 2022 - Not a TN but a question about the new release email today.

Looks like they are releasing a Block B and Block D bottling?

Does anyone have experience tasting these site within the site specific wines?

I have a three pack of the '18 Estate and am wondering whether there is a noticeable difference between the three wines.

    CellarTrackers, round up!

March 10, 2022 - Return to Napa; 3/6/2022-3/13/2022 (Wineries and various restaurants): A blend across two major blocks - 40% B and 60% D. Very high fruit and darker fruit and lots of tannin and a bit of a monster wine but with the impression that if you have patience it will reward you.

March 6, 2022 - This monster needs some time but if you work with it now, you will be rewarded. Following directions from Kinsman Eades, I opened the bottle in the morning, decanted for only a few minutes, poured back into the bottle, corked it and left it alone until 5pm (actually 4pm but don't tell anyone). Upon opening, it was good but it needed more time.

Very dark black and purple in color with similar notes of dark fruit that includes blackberry and plum. Strong tannins that made my mouth pucker and tons of iron and mineral, most notably graphite. This wine has tension, verve and a special quality that is memorable.

I have 1/2 bottle for tonight and will add notes if the wine changes.

    96-98 points.
