April 19, 2024 - Tasted alongside a 2010 Méo Vosne Chaumes. Noticeably deeper ruby tint than that wine. No 2005 sullenness here-open black and blue fruit notes right out of the bottle with some soil but sparser green elements than the younger wine. Medium weight, sappy and rounder but retaining beautiful soil and excellent acidity. The volume of material allows the moderate remaining tannins to take a back seat. Early maturity, outstanding future as demonstrated by it gaining a lot of texture and complexity over several hours. I would have made a totally backward guess about which wine was from which vintage.

July 11, 2021 - Red fruits, complex wine with a lot of depth.
One of the best Burgundy’s I’ve ever tasted yet.
If you have the chance to drink this wine, don’t hesitate!

August 10, 2019 - This was the same bottle as previous note which I then had Coravined. I took the remaining half bottle with me to a restaurant (Ledbury). I always think wines that have been Coravin accessed do get a bit of air and a slow oxidation process starts. The sommelier pulled cork and left an hour at cellar temperature before serving. When he served it the nose was as great as any wine I have ever had pretty much (I would say 98 plus!). Macerated cherries, rose pedal, sweet spices in spades and the intensity of this was off the charts (it reminded me a bit of Comte Liger Belair NSG Cras 2010 which also is a knock-out)! I was stunned and the sommelier smiled and said he could smell it from where he was standing. The palate was great too but not quite with the nose. Still superb. I think if maybe a bit less air both would have gotten together as unbelievable pair. Way exceeded my expectations and given I had half bottle the week prior from the same bottle it just shows how much preparation can change the experience! Happy this was the first of a case and will be opening a bottles now-2030. Amazing wine. 95+

August 4, 2019 - This is a wine that toys with you. It is immediately enchanting with blueberry, a (gentle) touch of wood and then it glides on the palate with a mineral blanket lingering for half a minute and asking questions. Is it sweet, it is mineral, is it dry? It is a tad perplexing and I think the very fact I am thinking about it means it is special. I think this is very very good and it is the bulls eye of NSG for me in that it had the NSG stature - it is a big wine - but a bit of Vosne refinement, surprisingly airy and energetic. Kind of eye to eye from memory with Cathiard Murgers 05 I had (the Cathiard maybe being the slightly more "slutty" wine and the Meo being the more "hedonistic" choice). Long life ahead here for sure. Ideal drinking window will probably be 2025-2040 but you can broach this now it is not taciturn by any measure but you can just sense the the primary fruit will give way to more secondary beauty.

June 11, 2019 - Sweet fruit and floral aromas on the nose. The palate is where this wine excels. Densely concentrated with layers and layers of sappy fruit. Smooth as silk and open for business. Unlike a lot of ‘05s which still tend to be tight, this wine has entered early maturity. Perhaps it never shutbdown because of Meo house style? No rush though as it will hold and evolve for some many years. This vintage slightly edged the 2010 it was served with.

April 26, 2019 - Superbe!
A boire durant 10 ans facilement.

May 6, 2017 - Pale ruby, a bit hazy, super intense nose, menthol, mineral, saddle leather aromas, on the palate high acidity, balanced tannins, cherry with layers of herbs, earth, very complex, so elegant, the wine of the night by far

November 10, 2016 - Méo-Camuzet NSG Boudots (mostly) Dinner with Jean-Nicolas Méo (Sepia - Chicago IL): Decanted almost three hours before serving, for which we were well rewarded. Ripe and very concentrated black and red cherry with great spice. Barely budged or evolved, but great materials and balance here. Great potential.
