November 27, 2023 - A nice bottle with tons of dark berry cobbler and dried herb. Developed well with a much needed decant. Full bodied with medium complexity and finish. The main knock is the 15% alcohol, which really reared its head. It blew off somewhat with air, but suffered from it. 91+
July 25, 2022 - Green, herbal, dense. Extracted and modern, with a touch of alcohol, vanilla, tobacco and tarragon, red bell pepper. Lots of tannin and structure, recommend additional aging for this. Try in a few years.
October 7, 2021 - A surprisingly good bottle of wine, but very young. Dense with plenty of dark fruit and bramble. Medium-full bodied. Medium+ finish, this was consumed too early and without a proper decant. This has tons of potential and I was a big fan. 93+
October 4, 2021 - Very dark color. Dark cherry and spice nose with freshly cut wood and hints of red chiles. Kirsch, macerated black plum, cinnamon, and damp earth on the palate. Earth expands on the finish and adds leathery notes, rosemary, cocoa, and chewy tannins.
August 7, 2021 - Definitely crowd pleaser.
June 19, 2021 - So good. Umami notes.
June 7, 2021 - Port-like nose with black fruit, overripe red fruits, alcohol, and pepper. Black plum, dark milk chocolate, dry black cherry, and some pyrazines. Chewy, earthy tannins with thick, dry, black fruit and notes of molasses, dried thyme, and a bit more pyrazine on the medium finish,.
May 22, 2021 - Better on night two.
March 10, 2021 - Brought to Tasting Group. My first of three bottles. Popped and poured, enjoyed over two days. Day 1 was tasted blind. This wine comes across quite primary with powerful, stewed bramble fruit, baking chocolate and baking spice notes indicating the potential use of French barrique. Medium-plus tannin. Medium acid. Overall, this is a good and enjoyable wine...but nothing really pushing the needle if I'm being honest. Most around the table declared it Bordeaux. None called Southern Rhône. Everyone was surprised when it was revealed, including me, which expected more considering my usually appreciation for this producer's CdP (known to have an unusually large amount of Mourvedre in the blend). The interesting thing was the French barrique call as I understand this wine to be aged exclusively in concrete...?? Day 2, the fruit was softer and slightly more muted. The stewed characteristics were enhanced and the structure seemed to be receding. Perhaps too early to tell where this is headed...or perhaps this just isn't the strongest vintage from Mas de Boislauzon. I have two more so we will see how some cellar time treats these.
January 29, 2021 - Decanted for 2 hours prior to drinking. Deep ruby bed. Aromas of berry jam, bacon fat and cured meats. Complex with fairly long finish. Opened up and became softer over time.
