November 3, 2023 - Mourners Kaddish. Too old. Turning. No bueno.

August 4, 2022 - Kleur: Medium goudgeel.

Colour: Medium golden yellow. Aroma / bouquet: Rich and ripe bouquet with expressive impressions of butter, honey, vanilla, refined wood. Taste / Aftertaste: As long as this wine is served at a seriously moderate temperature (< 13-14 degrees!), the wine contains more than enough freshness and acidity (and the alcohol content remains below the level that starts with me to disturb). The mouthfeel is filmy, the wine thick-juicy and with seriously impressive concentration and serious length. Overall / potential: Impressive Sonoma Chardonnay of unprecedented class. Who will nevertheless find it difficult to compete against the (yet more balanced, more freshness and less alcohol containing) 'greatest whites of the earth' of Burgundy… 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 13 + Taste / Aftertaste : 19 + Overall / potential: 8 = 95/100

June 10, 2020 - Medium yellow. No amber. Really expressive. Great nose and fruit. A ringer for a grand cru white burg. Aged well.

July 1, 2018 - This was huge, concentrated, but still had a elegant floral nose despite the scale of the palate. I got a little heat, but not too distracting. A unique style of chardonnay.

June 30, 2018 - This is huge, impressive, musky, full bodied, but...
a bit difficult to drink. More impressive than delicious?
Still quite an experience. Not sure if this is getting better or more disjointed?

November 13, 2017 - I seldom get to taste Marcassin at more than 10 years of age, primarily because they never last that long in my cellar. WHile the wine retains some of its oaky, vanilla accents, the freshness is more apparent. Full bodied, ripe and luscious, the smoke, thyme, lemon grass, apple and pear notes with crushed rock accents, really shine through.

September 30, 2017 - Guys Night Part III (Jason's House): Pop and pour, shared the bottle with 5 others. This was completely different from a 2004 that we had a few months ago. Nice unctuous mouth-feel. There were hints of great complexity, mature and deep. It also was a bit alcoholic and slightly sherried I wouldn't say that it's premoxed, but it is starting to show its age. It really needed some acid.

September 28, 2017 - Mostly Cali at Jason's: Deep golden color. PNP, drank 1+ glass over an hour. A fun wine and one that encouraged spirited conversation. Some that had the '04 previously enjoyed that much more. Not having that, I found this quite fun. The color felt more advanced, but no sense of oxidation here. The nose gives off plenty of Marzipan, honey, and citrus notes. The palate has a great texture, honey, lemon, tangerine, hints of pear, juicy fruits, a bit on the flabby side though, medium plus body, and a nice finish. 92+pts.

March 18, 2017 - Occasional dinner group: 100 Parker points (red) wines (@ the Librije in Zwolle, Netherlands.): Although the bottle was not completely fresh I made some notes: Minerals in the bouquet. On the palate creamy caramel, some sweetness and acidity.
