December 5, 2021 - One of our favorite CA expressions of Syrah. Drinking well. Needs medium decant. Sediment so suggest standing bottle upright for 6+ hrs before pouring.

March 30, 2021 - The marriage of Napa and Syrah works so well in this Kongsgaard Syrah: a cooler, darker and fresher profile than the Central Californian cousins, with a touch Napa sexiness than the Washington Syrahs. This 2017 is riper and more Napa-esque with chocolate, baking spices and mint than the 2012 and 2014 but has a bit of a green streak with green olives and herbs to balance that out. This is a wonderful wine and easily worth 95 points but it hardly ever reach the 97+ category as I prefer less ripe vintages.

TN: At first a lot of Napa baking spices and pure, ripe dark fruit. With time more nuanced with layers and layers of ripe dark fruit, lots of spices, fresh herbs, hints of mint, black but mostly green olives, a tad of chocolate, a bit of smoke and earthy notes. Highly expressive on the nose and palate, superb precision, complex. Super soft and velvety tannins, high, perfectly integrated freshness with the herbs, green olives creating a green streak giving the wine additional lift. Fresh, light feel but still full-bodied and creamy. Spectacular, expanding finish full of herbs, olives spices and dark fruits.

Decanting: Right after opening good to go but with more air it developed more complexity. A 1-2 hours decant on or the other hour before consumption seems to be the right choice.

    Glass: Conterno Sensory

December 28, 2020 - It was good but it had a sharpish taste to it. I think I served it too cold and too soon. brought up from 55 cellar, deacanted an served within 30 mins or less. Or its way too young. Some sediment.
