April 4, 2024 - Another Wine gathering at RJ’s; 4/4/2024-4/7/2024 (Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina): Expressive nose displaying ripe red and black fruit, red currant, strawberry jelly, crème de cassis, lead pencil, vanilla/oak and mineral. The oak expression is super strong which is surprising. Very good concentration, layers upon layers of generous red and black fruit, warm, and round but also silky and polished, medium acidity, medium mineral, a hint of sweet tannins, and a medium to long sweet red and black fruit driven oaky finish. The fruit expresses a lot of red fruit. Although concentrated, this is rounder than typical cult cabs. Hopefully, the oak expression will lessen with further cellaring.

December 25, 2023 - Absolutely wonderful with Christmas tenderloin. Needed the 6 hours of air I gave it. Both big and delicate at the same time, with deep dark fruits and complex, lovey mouthfeel.

November 23, 2023 - Checking in again after a couple years, it still needs time with loads of find grain sweet tannins. After slow-ox of 5 hours this was really good but needs probably 5 years before it begins to hit its stride. Great wine and well made, one of the top wines of 2017 in Napa.

September 14, 2023 - Surprisingly approachable. Very savory and dense. Clearly will be long lived but with a couple hours of air very tasty now.

November 16, 2021 - Out of Magnum. Popped at noon to get some air and consumed 6 hours later. This is a gigantic wine. Tons of primary dark fruit, densely packed goodness. However right now, the vanilla and oak dominate. There is solid acidity to balance, and shows plenty of promise. Always nice to try MacD as these get harder and harder to come by.
