July 6, 2023 - A bit lighter and sweeter than the Monvigliero. Beautiful raspberry and rose petals. Love the purity of fruit and silky texture.

June 15, 2023 - Served at home in Conterno Sensory glasses. This was at it's peak about 30 minutes after being open. Huge nose of red cherry, cranberry, exotic spice and floral tones. It's deep and slightly firm with waves of flavor that unfurl one after the other, cherry, spice, along with floral and tar notes. It's powerful but balanced by a classic profile with slightly chewy tannins. The finish goes on forever and keeps you wanting for more. This is in its early drinking window but would expect a bit more development once the tannins ease a bit. It will be hard to let these sleep but this should be near perfection in in 5+ years.

June 18, 2022 - Burlotto Barolo Tasting + X (Freiheit Vinothek, Ulm, Germany): Quite similar to the Tre Tine, just not the beautiful, clear fruit. Nevertheless a beautiful Barolo in a lovely spot right now. 93

July 6, 2020 - On the nose, the wine opened with red cherry and cranberry fruit, exotic spices, fresh herbs, licorice, and violets. On the palate, it was richly textured with layers of sweet cranberry and red cherry fruit, with a high acidity level and hefty tannins that build into an explosive finish of red cherries, spices, minerals, and fresh lavender.

Compared to the '15 Monvigliero, I found the Cannubi to have a similar aromatic profile, lacking the savory elements the Monvigliero showed (olives, brine) and showing slightly darker in fruit profile but clearly of the same style. On the palate, I found the Cannubi to be a more richly textured wine vs. the ethereal Monvigliero, and I found the tannins to be heftier and in need of more time on the Cannubi, whereas the Monvigliero drinks with ease today. The Cannubi lacks some of the early drinkability of the Monvigliero in my opinion but it's clearly a fantastic wine in the making.
