July 15, 2021 - Extracted, intense, tannic, punchy, hot. Don’t love this modern style. More currant than cherry. Obviously too youthful right now but don’t imagine this will clean up into something more elegant or rustic or soulful. Not seeing hallmarks of the Roche vineyard in this. Sticks to your teeth. Far different interpretation from my 2019 note. Don’t care for this.

May 22, 2021 - Tenth Anniversary Magnum Celebration (Dig Wines and Piccino Restaurant, San Francisco): Magnum. Ruby. Remarkably thin feel and lack of richness for such a heralded bottle. Hugely disappointing and difficult to understand coming from this large scaled vintage. Another example of a Ponsot that was show stopping when it debuted but much less compelling later on.

    January 26, 2021 - Ponsot Vertical 02, 05, 10: Wine 3, 2005 (my #1, groups #2)
Pure, bright red cherry fruit with a slightly detracting vitamin/medicinal element. Wow palate for me, tart, bright, glossy and energetic fruit that has complex and evolving flavors. The texture is sublime, very palate caressing without being heavy or cloying. My clear favorite.

August 13, 2020 - Decanted to serve. Floral, fruit forward, and spice. Polished palate but very dense and deep. Good stuff.
