Community Tasting Notes 8

April 11, 2022 - A bit funky at first but transforms into a nice mature wine after an hour in the glass. Would pass as an old Bordeaux grand cru in a blind tasting. Will see how it evolves over the next day or two.

January 8, 2022 - Past prime but still drinkable. A bit funky and very little fruit left.

July 23, 2021 - Dark red with slight fading at rim. Cherries and tobacco on the nose. Fruit is slightly faded but still intense. Cherries, blackberries, leather, tobacco. Fine tannins, excellent acidity and balance. Finishes long and dark fruited. Past peak, yes, but still quite nice. Became brighter and fresher with food. Pop-and-Pour. I'd drink in the next 2 years.

July 2, 2013 - Fabulous cab. Just gets better and better.

August 24, 2012 - Last bottle, had some trouble with a dried cork on this bottle, low expectations at the outset. This bottle was very tight in the first 30 minutes - opened up nicely after that.

Aromatics were great, floral and herbs on the nose. Similar to last tasting, this bottle had a bit more life in it. Currants, and red fruit on the palat. Some Bordeaux-like characteristics in this bottle on the finish. Pencil, herbs, leather on the back and finish.

I have had some interesting and good experiences recently with older Calif wines - especially wines that would not be considered big name/age worthy. This one has hit this category - surprising to the upside along with 96 Arrowood, 97 Clos Pegase, 85 Silver Oak
