Community Tasting Notes 4

February 5, 2023 - For a mere Bourgogne, this is terrific. The nose could be more forthcoming, but on the palate this is velvety and beautifully balanced, with meaty, savoury notes, a touch of sweetness mid-palate, finishing quite long. Mortet is based in Gevrey and this could be passed off as a village Gevrey. Perfect for current drinking, but no great hurry.

August 23, 2021 - Savory bouquet of grill meat, red berries and mild camp fire spices. Medium bodied savory flavors of black and red cherries, slate minerals and earth. An impressive and great Bourgogne which punches above its weight.

March 5, 2021 - Floral aromatics, bursting out of glass. Pure palate, quite weightless. Great expression of Pinot at this level.

August 10, 2020 - Nose of small reb cherries and berries fruits, rhubarb and floral spices. Light to medium bodied flavors of red cherry fruits, gassy acidity, tree bark, bramble and earth. Good intensity here. This is more approachable than the Marsannay but would see improvement with another year of aging. Very well made Bourgogne which is above its level.
