December 30, 2023 - Wine has has great fruit structure, but it is in a dumb phase. Hopefully it will age out of it.

December 18, 2023 - Reviews on this wine are all over the map. Bottle variation or is this wine that confusing?

Personally, I thought this was excellent. Nice developed notes of wet earth and leather, countered by a still fresh, high-toned cherry note. Similar on the palate, with subtle tannins and bright acid adding to a silky mouthfeel.

Still on the upswing in my opinion and should continue to improve, but worth checking in on now if you have a few bottles.

December 16, 2023 - This baby is barely ready to wake up from a nap. It will be much better in 5 years. Tight, structured, deep, intense. The nose is fairly closed. The palate is lasered in on graphite at this point. The tannins are gripping firmly. For drinking now, must decant for hours. I'm sure it will be more expressive tomorrow than today..

December 7, 2023 - Un-named Atlanta Wine Tasting Group - High End Reds; 12/7/2023-12/10/2023 (Beebe House): Wine #7 in blind tasting of 7 "high-end" red wines paired with grilled NY Strips and Grilled Beef Filet Mignon.

Didn't note color. On nose, rose petals, floral notes, black licorice. Similar palate with medium+ body, high acidity, high tannins and very long finish. Guessed Barbaresco (must have been light red but I didn't note the color). Enjoyed this. Preferred this to a '17 Sassicaia tasted before it. Group's last in the tasting.

Sampled again 24 hours later and it was drinking beautifully. Tasting note similar to above + sweet/sour cherry on nose, improved palate density and very long, mouth-watering finish. Decant for a few hours if drinking now, or better yet, let this sit for a few years.

October 12, 2023 - Opened for 3 hours. Color is garnet. On the nose: Cherry, rose, tar and spice notes. On the palate: Cherry, rose, bit of vanilla and astringent tannins with a bit of sour cherry at the end. Fruit is a bit restrained for now with tannins more prominent. Good acidity. This is a wine for grown ups and a food wine. We are having with Pizza and it’s quite good. Needs more time to age.

September 9, 2023 - Decanted 2 hours. Shy nose even after decant. Dry on the palate with chalky tannins. Sour cherry and cranberry on the palate. Not revealing much, but a suave mouthfeel and elegant finish. I think this needs a decade or more to resolve some serious tannin, but will be brilliant in due time. Not for the fruity types; a very serious wine.

I recently had a similar experience with a 2004, which I feel hasn't yet fully integrated its colossal tannins. This perhaps says something about this producer and the potential longevity of these wines. I won't touch another bottle of this for at least a decade and probably much longer, but the quality here is evident and remarkable.

August 15, 2023 - 30 min decant and was ready to go. Red fruits, sweet spice, pretty nose, good mouthfeel and decent finish. Drank over a few hours and it improved a little. Really nice wine that everyone liked. 93-94

July 28, 2023 - Opened 2 hours before lunch then decanted prior to serving. Medium red; an undistinguished nose of red fruits. On the palate this has a good tannic backbone but lacks the varietal character of a good Chianti Classico or the richness of Brunello. Perhaps just needs more time but unimpressive today.

June 30, 2023 - Quite an interesting wine.
The nose is all Brunello. Ripe cherries, ripe cranberry, floral notes, and a kiss of vanilla. The attack on this wine is soft and pretty. It builds from there in a crescendo of red fruit, brightness, and tannic grip. This is one of the more thought provoking wines I’ve had recently. It starts out as you may expect from great Sangiovese, but it then swerved into a bright and textural journey. Many may not like the intense acidity of this wine but with the right food it shines. Med body, high acid, med+ tannin. Try again in 3-5 years. It should last 20.
