Community Tasting Notes 8

December 22, 2022 - I should have read my last notes and left this in the cellar for a couple more years. Good density of colour. Discrete nose and tight, ungiving palate. With some coaxing black plums, cherries emerge. Mineral and a bit monolithic - Burgundy meets Syrah at 14% alcohol....

March 10, 2022 - Notes after open for ~ 2 hours. Very tight on open. Dark black/purple in glass. Meat, saline, blackberry and tobacco on nose - really needed air to show. Similar flavor profile on palate. Medium+ body, medium+ tannins, medium acidity and long finish. On PNP did not like, with air I really do and will buy a few bottles to see how this ages. Very nice. 91-92 range.

April 15, 2020 - Benchmarking experiment...decanted. I was expecting this to be tight and unyielding, but that was far from the case at first. On the nose: lovely black raspberry, tar and charcoal, and that honeycomb/pollen note I associate with this producer. On the palate, great acidity, black pepper, dense fruit, and a very dense tannic finish. This was rather open at first, but about 1.5 hrs in, it completely shut down. The nose was quieter, and this became even more tannic on the finish. Very good stuff, but needs loads of time...leave next bottle for at least 5 years.

March 8, 2020 - Sometimes I wish I hadn't read a review before opening a bottle! After reading the below notes I assumed I could open my first 2017 vintage before the 2015 which is waiting. Bad advice, this is nowhere near ready - tannins are tight and the fruit is unwielding. I will wait another 2+ years at least for the next one....

January 17, 2020 - Servi à l'aveugle, le nez se transforme au fil des verres, bouche soignée et fruitée. Belle finale. Très bien++ malgré sa prime jeunesse !
