October 4, 2020 - Second trying of this wine. This time from a 750ml. Once again fabulous and worth finding. Strawberry fruit is held is muted and balanced watery juice. So thin and yet so powerfully spiced with wild over-ripened strawberry and some sweet raspberry.

I am going to state that these Martinelli Pinot Noir's age beautifully and are worth finding. This wine is 15 years old and is so melancholy, and yet so fruit laden and light bodied that it makes me ponder why a wine needs viscosity. Like many old wines it is simply beautiful.

March 9, 2019 - Had this during the weekend of the Concours D'Elegance in Amelia Island.
Drank over 3 days from a magnum. This has aged well and is just so melancholy. Aromas and in mouth flavor of black cherry, raspberry, earth, and spice. The viscosity is thinner but the wine is well balanced.

July 22, 2016 - Nice age domestic Pinot. Alive and well tonight. Nice by smell of fruit, paired with cedar plank sockeye salmon. Thumbs up. Still has some years left on it.

April 7, 2015 - Medium-light bodied with pleasant cherry and stone-fruit flavors. Drinking beautifully and easy, with a long, balanced finish. Overall, a pleasure, especially if you're after something lighter and less intense. Drink now.

August 10, 2013 - 3rd bottle of this in the past year, and this is a wine in decline (to my palate). Less primary fruit than the previous bottle, this tilts the balance towards the spice.
Note that the aroma has not declined in the least (still amazing aroma per QPR), just the power on the flavor and finish have declined. I don't see this falling off a cliff, but if you prefer fruit in your pinot I wouldn't wait long.
Still, as I sip the end of the bottle... love this wine.

March 1, 2013 - Similar to the last bottle (especially the luscious nose of fresh red fruit & spice), but not as much fruit & more spice than the previous bottle. The finish was also flatter. Hopefully just bottle variation and not a decline.

October 27, 2012 - Typical light red Martinelli color, with powerful aromas of black cherry, raspberry, earth, and spice. The flavors were much the same, with lots of spice on the long finish. The fruit, tannin, and oak are well integrated and in balance, although this pinot does show its oak... not to be confused with burgandy! Yes it's a big Cali Pinot... but it's done damn well!
