June 12, 2016 - I'm not sure if it was the bottle itself or if this hot vintage is a little played out at 13 years. It was still very good, but with more acid up-front. Over time, it fleshed out and became quite good, especially with food.

October 18, 2014 - Funky nose...smells very raisiny like a port or a triple bock beer. Lots if sediment, decanted for 1.5 hrs. Taste matches the nose. Agree with other comments that we likely missed the prime on this one. Pairing with salty cheeses helps. Also helps to skip the inhale and just drink it. Since we compared it with port, decide to try pairing with dark chocolate more as a dessert wine. Unfortunately, this was not much of an upgrade.

October 17, 2014 - Browning, showing some pruniness, little interest.

July 19, 2014 - Color is fairly brown. Who cares? Significantly better nose and palate than last bottle three years ago. Cinnamon is still there, but much more integrated. Almond coffee, red fruit. Enough acidity and tannin to carry on. If there's a knock, it's the alcohol (14%) on the PnP, but it mostly blows off.Watch the schmutz. 88-89 pts. Better than expected; like found money.

May 24, 2014 - Not as good as when I had it in '11. Agree with others—drink up! Had this tonight side-by-side with the cuvée vigneronne from the same vintage and the latter showed better, though this had more power. Tons of sedement so decant. Deep crimson with bricking. Aromas of dried fruits (raisin, prune, apricot) and cedar. Medium body and acid, pretty good length, and flavors of red fruits, licorice, and mineral. Paired well with lamb, ricotta, and mint pasta.
