January 8, 2022 - This bottle was the best Gigondas I've had in awhile. Prominent garrique, lots of fruit. Drinking nicely now.
December 24, 2013 - Goodbye old friend. These were better a couple of years ago, but this still gave plenty of pleasure -- until a wasp took a dip in Kim's glass unbeknownst to her.
July 9, 2013 - Somewhat past its peak. Fruit has faded too much, although dark fruits are still evident (cherries, plums), leather. Nicely balanced, with soft tannins in the finish. To my taste, the finish has an unpleasant acidic element.
June 29, 2013 - Drinking at peak, to my taste, from magnum. A little funky and plenty of development, this still has some fruit but the tannin has melted away. No rush on big bottles, but also no reason not to drink them.
June 11, 2013 - Fully mature, in fact starting down the other side for this 375. Still a very nice bottle, velvet with mulling spices.
September 3, 2012 - Drink now as the tannins are fading. Very mellow with notes of red berries and a hint of tobacco. Medium body with good but subtle finish.
August 23, 2012 - Red and blue fruits, spice, good acidity and freshness. Subtle, drink up.
November 19, 2011 - Deep color and hint of dried plum-Beginning to taste a bit musky. Tannins are not as pronounced as the first bottle several years ago.If you have anydrink it now
August 14, 2011 - Dark and inky, with very little weakening on the rim or secondary aromas. Lots of chewy, earthy plum notes. A bit of roasted herbs and a long roasted meat finish. A little lacking in zip but a very savoury treat. I'm curious if this will age another 5 to 8 years, but will probably drink my last bottle come winter.
July 1, 2011 - This seems pretty mature to me, far evolved from the last bottle a couple of years ago. It's got life yet, but it seems like it's moving into aged red wine territory. Oldish, warm, leathery, and kind of fuzzy. A bit of a let down.
