Community Tasting Notes 10

May 11, 2023 - One hour double decant. Especially deep magenta color (darker than most OR Pinots). Cranberry, sugar plum, burnt toast, cinnamon tea, and subtle minerality. Smooth, dry palate, with ultra fine, tongue coating acidity. Firm, but very low intensity tannins on the longish finish.

This absolutely needed the decant to blow off some not so nice scents. After that, this drank like a beautiful Oregon Pinot.

May 11, 2023 - Brought to the restaurant by our host Agelvis after a 2 hour double decant. Medium to deep ruby/purple in the glass. Nose initially had a little Brett/barnyard but this dissipated over 15 minutes in the glass. Both red and black fruit notes to it but the longer it was open at the table the more the darker fruit dominated for me. Maybe a black plum? There was a transitory phase, too, where a small amount of brown/green herbs could be appreciated and I worried that they would take over but they faded fairly quickly as well. The dominating characteristic of this bottle was its riveting acidic backbone which contributed to a long spicy finish. This is a very well made wine with excellent structure but maybe not the most indicative of the varietal? Unfortunately, I have no root stock or clone info available. It may just be one that I've had no previous palate experience with?

December 4, 2022 - {Bought on release, #1 of 3 bottles; perfect fill; poured at Underground Wine Society dinner for blinded Burgundy vs Rest of World Pinot tasting} Huge pinote wine, dancing balance despite size and concentration; needs a long snooze before ready to drink. Red and black fruits, lots of minerals, darkest wine of the night yet elegant. As noted by Collector1855, comes across as filled with energy. Touch of liquorice like a great Clos de la Roche (Some tasters thought it obviously had Syrah added!). Rim is still purplish and opaque. Although the flavor set is different reminds me of 2005 Corton grand cru wines that were still impenetrable 10 years on. Probably a 95 or 96 point wine when mature. Breathtaking tour de force.

December 25, 2021 - Underlying material was excellent. The reduction in this bottles was off-putting even after a 1 hour decant. Without the reduction I had in my bottle it would be 94 points at a minimum

January 22, 2021 - Rose & Arrow 2017 vintage presentation (Iggy's Restaurant Singapore): Consistent to my last tasting nose. Expressive and complex red fruit nose and lots of tension on the palate. long aromatic finish. Its 2017 sibling was even more impressive.
