Community Tasting Notes 4

December 20, 2016 - Quite flat and disappointing...even though treated with all the necessary care. Not much body, very short. Almost no tannins at all left. Wondering if it has gone over the edge?

June 19, 2011 - Burgundy & More in Williamsburg: Elegance in a glass. Beautiful perfumed nose of lilacs and red and black cherry fruit. Baby's bottom silkiness - red fruits and minerality for days, which are light on its feet all the way through. Classic Chambolle character and drinking very nicely right now! One of the best of the night, holding its own in tough competition

February 6, 2011 - Half bottle. Nice color. Evolved. Beautiful nose of cherries and strawberries. Smooth and delineated. Good acidity still. Good finish. Nice wine

February 19, 2009 - Tasting and Dinner with Laurent Ponsot of Domaine Ponsot (Harbour Grill, Hilton Hotel, Singapore): This was chaptalised and it showed somewhat, but it was nevertheless drinking beautifully at the moment. Incredible, seductive Chambolle nose. Lots of flowers on the first whiff - violets I though - not fresh-cut flowers like the 2006, but slightly wilted, sticky scents. Under that were high-toned cherry scents along with an underlayer of mushroom and, with time, some chocolate covered raisins. Very nice. Lovely balance on the palate, with lots of fresh acid. There were nice, defined flavours of clean high-toned cherries and fresh-cut flowers and a nice minerality at the rather sappy finish. The palate was just a little lightweight when placed next to the Grand Crus unfortunately. Otherwise, a lovely, elegant, almost feminine expression with lots of Chambolle coming though. The wine is in a good place now and I really enjoyed it - not sure it is one for long aging though!

(Ponsot Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes) Medium cherry-red. The nose is transparent, almost crystaline red fruit of some sweetness that takes about 1 hour from opening to crescendo. Good freshness, lovely intense mid-palate with mouthwatering acidity and a very good length. This has real balance to go with a good, slowly fading length. This was a quickly vanishing bottle.
