August 28, 2022 - Decanted 1 hr. Drank over 3 days - 1/2 on day 1 and 1/2 on day 3. Day 3 was as good, if not better (softer on the tongue) than day 1. Tastes of red & dark fruits (rasberry, plum) and a hint of chocolate.

August 19, 2022 - Just tried this again without decanting. It has matured quite nicely. Nuanced and layered, with a long finish. The mixture of earth, spices, and fruit was balanced and on point. It has turned into a very nice Hall, on par with their much more expensive wines, so it now has super QPR. I wish I had more.

March 19, 2022 - This wine has a deep purple color and a nose of black cherries and plums. The first tastes are of black cherries, raspberries and fruit followed by a mid palate of deep flavors including chocolate, espresso and a hint of licorice. The finish is a combination of kirsch and oak with moderate tannins balancing the 15.1 ABV with the fruit and oak.

This is an enjoyable wine, but has the overall sense of cherries covered in dark chocolate and an overlay of oak with the finish tasting a bit like a cordial or port. There is a lot going on here, but it just seemed a bit out of balance.

Served after an hour an a half decant with a grilled Porterhouse steak, butternut squash with cranberries and balsamic brown sugar glaze and deep fried red potato slices with sea salt.

January 14, 2022 - Really hitting its stride, cherry bomb, 2016 Napa proving to be an exceptional vintage.
