July 2, 2020 - Almost transparent garnet. Reticent even after 2 hours in the decanter. Hints of tobacco, dark spices, and chocolate. After 3 1/2 hours, some scents of flowers, raspberries, and strawberries began to emerge but still very closed off. Medium to full body with chewy tannins, and little fruit. Perhaps some shoe leather and vanilla syrup. On day 2 this had completely opened. Strong aromas of dark cherries with a background of menthol. Tannins better integrated and coated your mouth in a delightful way, delivering some tart cherries that began to sweeten further in the glass. Definitely too young right now, suggest a long, long decant.

May 22, 2019 - Red fruited with nice florals and red licorice on the nose. A little plum along with more classic nebbiolo fruit. Good balance and depth with a sense of minerality and focus . This is outstanding, but the least strong of the '16 offerings.
