Community Tasting Notes 1

March 24, 2019 - Off the wine list at Maialino in NYC. I've been intrigued by this producer since I saw a Piedmont tasting story about a month ago that included a visit. So when this wine was fairly reasonable and with some good age I pounced on it. Opened and decanted and if I'm fair the wine didn't really have enough time to totally come into it's own, but it was still fun and interesting and we were with some friends who appreciate wine. The fruit was still very much there - lots of more cranberry notes. There's that tartness of age and almost a bit over the hill, but it's funny how the color started off almost orange and translucent and the more air it got the more it shifted towards red and picked up some body. Nebbiolo is such a funny grape. I think if we had continued to give it time might have opened even more. As it was, when paired with a parm pasta sauce it was really quite nice.
