January 9, 2022 - Mild petrol on the nose. Ripe strawberries. Paired just okay with a yellow curry chicken (the gruner we had was better in that regard). Long finish.

November 21, 2021 - PnP, 13% Alc., when you pour the first drops into your glass the impression of color is wild fresh ocean. Settles down and then becomes a quite clear pale yellow color.

Nose: Lots of freshness, minerality, white stone fruit and S-Fs typical gun powder and flint stone flavors owed possibly to its unique and very special reduction- and fermentation technique.

Palate: Cool the initial taste, lots of freshness and energy, full of minerality, white fruit and white flowers, extremely fine lemon resp. lemon zest, imo acid already very good integrated, vintage related some residual sugar or honey tastable but ensures even more drinking pleasure for ordinary people like me, lot's of precision, simply beautiful and so drink animating. Love it.

Disagree with most tasters before. Imo you can and even should start drinking this beautiful stuff now. Keep in mind 2018 was a very hot year in Germany.

September 14, 2021 - Gorgeous already but young; limestone, ocean, sea, glycerol and lovely. Palate is shy but for sure packed a punch with great acidity and length. This will likely unwind over next few years and become extraordinary but very nice today already

November 8, 2020 - A friend said this was drinking really well despite its youth, so we pulled a bottle to taste with a lovely pork roast. I decanted this about an hour before serving, then poured into Zalto Universal stems. The color was very pale, bordering on colorless with just a tiny greenish tinge. Nose of apricots and the white part of a watermelon, expressive, but not explosive, with a good stoniness. Lighter nose than I would have predicted. On the palate, this did an about face with every sip, going from linear and acidic with some citrus notes, to a more rich aspect with some lychee flavor. It was odd - not a progression of one to the other, but a quick turnaround on every sip. Plenty of energy and excitement and pizazz. With another hour of air, the palate became more integrated. Sadly, as it integrated, the mid took on a watery aspect and the whole thing seemed to become a little less lively. As I read this note, I think it sounds as if I didn't like wine. This is not the case. I thought it was excellent and has a huge amount of potential, with a clear trajectory towards something quite classic, beautiful and balanced. Right now, though, it is awkward and being held back. I think it's too young for me to advise drinking it except to get a baseline note. Note, though, that this bottle was delivered fairly recently from a good US retailer. We also have a couple of cases purchased on release in Germany, and I'm curious to try one of those soon to see how it compares.

November 3, 2020 - The 2018 Felseneck GG is absolutely stunning - it's so youthful today, but impresses for its expressive aromatics and incredible energy. The nose was intensely perfumed with wet stone, sea breeze, smoke, fresh lime, and white floral aromas. On the palate, the wine is powerful and full of drive. I found intense mineral and lime tones with some smokiness, with mouthwatering acidity peaking towards the long, saline, mineral-heavy finish, which lingers on the palate for a long time. This is an incredible wine.
