Community Tasting Notes 9

October 10, 2020 - Medium dark red. Darker nose then others, black cherry, tobacco, warm spice and a bit of funk. Dry rich dark fruit flavours and a very tannic finish.

April 12, 2019 - Drinking very well after a double decant. Purchased on release, Dark fruits, earth, very full palate. Nose is nice, finish is savory and long. Great bottle with food, do not know what it might be like by itself as it disappeared with dinner. Not a graceful lacy wine, but a lovely full throttled burgundy.

May 10, 2018 - Purchased on release, stored properly since then. Clear, deep red, with hints of brown tone throughout. Nose was a touch reticent at first, and remained less intense than than the palate. Showed big and burly without being awkward or heavy handed - structure of a pro basketball player, you would say. Less weighty than expected, and very deeply fruited. Earthy notes started coming out after about an hour, and in between there was a bug spray smell that I didn't care for. That only lasted a few minutes, though. All the great qualities of 2005, not in the least overripe or overdone. Plenty of structure and acid along with the ripe fruit. Will hold for years and years, but delicious now if you want to taste a hint of that youthful exuberance along with mature elements. Very good drink, a pleasure with duck breast at home.

March 24, 2018 - Concentrated young nose and still fruit forward. Raspberry blackberry on initial approach - a bit of sandalwood. Great concentration on taste with a huge and long finish. Really intense.

January 6, 2018 - At dinner with Pierre and Karen. Wine showed some brick colour on the edge but appeared remarkably young. Full bodied with clear pinot noir fruit notes and firm tannins that covered mouth and tongue. Delightful with roasted chicken.
