January 14, 2020 - General rule: if your vineyard is right for Cabernet, it’s wrong for Pinot noir. Trefethen has vineyards in Napa Valley, Oak Knoll district, where they grow cab and Chardonnay and other varietals that like the warmth. They grow Pinot noir right in the middle. The wine is light, even by Pinot standards, has some of the barrel on the nose, but the flavors are light and harsh. The harshness diminishes by day 2 and 3, but when I think of what I’d think is a fair price for this, I’d say $10-12. The price is $45. They should bulk this out and replant the block to something else.
