April 7, 2020 - A very nice Monsanto! Drinking very much like the ‘15, albeit a bit riper/darker fruited and earthier than I remember the ‘15 being, with more of a anise/fennel aspect that I find very appealing. A hint of funk and rustic but friendly farm-hand tannins round it out.

March 23, 2020 - Best version of this in recent memory. Delicious now, and has the stuff to be good for the next 7-8 years at least.

March 21, 2020 - Just tasted the 16 Riservas from Monsanto and Felsina -- both are excellent wines and staggeringly good values (under $25 good customer price) and bound to be great wines in 10-15 yrs. And the wines side by side express their terroirs and house styles perfectly -- the Monsanto, dark fruited, earthy, more brooding by impeccably balanced; the Felsina brighter, red toned, some tobacco notes, terrific bouquet.... Anyone who loves chianti should buy these both by the case and stow them in a dark cold corner of the cellar, particularly those of us who perhaps shouldn't be buying Rancia or Il Poggio given our ages-- and note the time of acquisition as a reminder of so much of what is great and humble at the same time as we pray for our friends in Italy to get back on their feet

March 10, 2020 - No decant. If you like chianti and don't have money to burn, you should have cases of this stuff it is phenomenally good. Juicy cherry fruits, dried cherries, licorice, damp earth, and a mineral finish that almost hits an iron like note. Give this 1-2 hours of air.
