Well she turned out to be a real good egg and as my parting-from-Athens gift, she gave me a glass of this lovely Assyrtiko Monemvasia Cyclades PGI blend that been opened that afternoon for the six-year anniversary of @heteroclitoathens . I knew I would dig it from first whiff: barn, sea, rosemary, thyme, which is the most botanicals than I’ve witnessed from a straight up white ‘round these parts. It tasted like a very light simple syrup simmering with lemon zest and briney caper juice. (I don’t know, maybe the Monemvasia is rounding out the Assyrtiko?) The acid was like the occasional white caps on a windy sea - things are rolling along, then pop! I love left field finishes. Three out of four.
