December 17, 2023 - Comprehensive Tenuta delle Terre Nere (Chicago, IL): Nose here was somewhat mute, but the palate was definitely quite expressive. Plenty of fruit on the palate, with a good amount of youthful tannin still. Likely upside with more time.

October 11, 2023 - Red fruited with lots of minerality. Very translucent, we tasted this alongside a range of other Etna Rossos and it cemented Terre Nere as my go to producer for the region. Very good.

February 22, 2022 - Random wines tried before service (Oinoscent): Tasted via AVEINE device

Bottle was opened 1hr before tasting
    1 hour setting
The wine shows medium intensity in the nose, heat from 14.50%, dried red cherries and currants, balsamic notes, earthy, raisin, chocolate notes, coffee.
Palate harsh, high acidity, overripe to dried red fruit medium tannins, earthy, really aggressive, high alcohol, linear, short to medium finish

    2hr setting
The wine shows low intensity in the nose, lean, thin, warmth from alcohol, dried red cherries, floral notes, thin oak frame, biscuit
Palate equally aggressive but lower in alcohol, lean, low tannins, earthy, warm, shorter finish

    4hr setting
The wine shows medium intensity, closer to 1hr setting, the fruit is riper/darker, shows red berry and cherry, earthy, drier, more oxidative notes, wood paint
Palate shows medium intensity, again closer to 1hr setting, harsh and drying tannins, medium to high acidity, underripe fruit, cherries, earthy, lean, short to medium finish, extremely hot from alcohol

January 27, 2022 - Nose of red fruits layered with spice. Strawberry and dried cherries on the palate with herbs, minerals and faint floral notes. Heavily structured, roughly 4 hours of air softened the wine to the point where it was approachable, but this is clearly built for the long term. Tasty with a decant, but best to check in a decade from vintage.

June 12, 2020 - Tenuta delle Terre Nere with Marco de Grazia (Zoom!): Pale red, very translucent. Reduced nose. Slightly sweeter finish than the Santo Spirito. Not giving much at the moment - Marco de Grazia says it's like a knife driving into a complex black hole.
