January 29, 2022 - A: medium ruby with purple highlights
N: medium nose of red cherry, red plum, raspberry, blackberry, tomato, liquorice, cloves, chocolate, cedar
P: dry, medium + acid, medium + dusty chalky tannin mainly on the gums, vanilla, high alcohol, full body, medium (+) intensity, medium (+) finish
C: Balance of fruit and acid. Good length but the intensity is disconnected between nose and palate. There is some complexity here with 5 descriptive clusters represented. This is a very good quality wine. Better examples may have had higher intensity which was matched on nose on palate as well as a longer finish.

    Guesses:
Gum tannin (typical in Carmenet grapes), Euro tannins, red and black fruit and the acidity, drove me to Bordeaux. I thought it was right bank

    Mistakes:
This was merlot dominant but from the left bank. I didn't get dominant gravel flavors here. Might have been masked a bit by other components.

January 26, 2022 - Tasted blind. Clear med (+) ruby with garnet hur. Med to med (+) ripe red cherry, black cherry, black plum, dried herbs, tobacco, cedar, toast and some French Oak spice. Dry, w/ med to med (+) acid, med (+) tannins and high alcohol (14.5%). Full bodied, with med (+) intensity and length. Nicely balanced, perhaps a little austere. Drinking well now but likely to benefit from further aging.

A moderate climate, Old World red. The presence of both red and black fruit would indicate a blend. The balance and smoothness point to Bordeaux, although it could be a Super Tuscan. (70% merlot, 25% Cab. Sauv. and 5% Petit Verdot).
