November 5, 2023 - I didn’t realize it when I grabbed this in the cellar, but this was our last bottle ☹️ I didn’t buy enough. This is delicious. It comes across as a lighter weight Chianti, yet it is packed with flavor. Cherry, anise, and just a touch of earth. I am really trying to be selective when buying wine, but I won’t hesitate to buy more Castell’in Villa when I come across it.

October 19, 2023 - Popped and poured. The 2015 Castell’In Villa CC pours a bright ruby with medium+ viscosity, no staining of the tears and no signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing, with notes of tart cherries, some ripe BO (but I kinda like it?), spiced meat, dried herbs and dusty earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, tart and has some great minerals giving the impression of freshness and, well, elegance. A solid expression of the Castelnuovo Berardenga UGA. Drinking well now but I think that’s more the generosity of the 2015 vintage than maturity. Drink now with some patience and over the next 5-10 years.

July 28, 2023 - Unfortunately we are getting down to the last couple bottles of this in our cellar. As this opens up, it becomes more youthful and the tannin emerges. There is a nice combination of savory flavors, along with darker toned fruit. Delicious with pizza tonight.

February 14, 2023 - Ready to go from the minute it was opened. Strikingly fresh, it cleanses the palate at the same time it delivers bright red fruit a vibrant blast of freshly picked herbs, and just the right amount of tannic structure. Lots of fun to drink and a good value for $25.

February 11, 2023 - Very light style of Sangiovese, served to me blind I would have guessed Nebbiolo (due to the sweet touch of fruit), the balance could have been a bit better, not at the level of their wonderful 2016.
