October 8, 2021 - Upfront fruit on the nose, quintessential Barbera.

I just had a glass of the 2010 Guido Porro Sta. Caterina, which does this wine no favors, but if you allow for the obvious differences between Nebbiolo and Barbera, this wine really holds it's own. Not the nth degree of complexity, but that's not what I look for in a Barbera.

September 2, 2021 - Cherry and blueberry fruit, and tomato/tomato leaf; more subtle wood and cinnamon. Doesn’t have the overripeness I feared from the vintage but does show alcohol. M+ acid, M+ body. 6.1/10

February 2, 2021 - Aromas of black plums and cherry, coffee, other oak notes, black walnut. Also soy sauce and some umami notes
I found the oak a bit too much for my palate, but I tend to be hypersensitive to oak
    Medium- tannins
    The fruit is quite ripe

October 18, 2020 - Deep garnet fading to pink with a clear rim. Blackberry, vanilla, and tobacco on the nose. Medium -full mouthfeel with low tannins (duh, Barbara), medium plus acidity, and a medium length aftertaste.

While dark and brooding, this is still a good daily drinker which will pair well with pizza, barbeque, burgers, etc. Widely distributed. Drink now or hold through 2025.

October 18, 2020 - Quite a nice every day Barbera. Redolent bouquet with hints of violets. Notes of sour cherries, blackberries, tobacco. Medium bodied and medium+ acidity, the latter of which leads to a fairly long finish. Classic old world wine with just enough fruit to keep interest. Whereas the soft tannins and the bright acidity help maintain intrigue. The higher acidity needs to be balanced with some food like salami or a roast. This is not a wine to be sipped by itself. While WA 91 pts and WS 90 pts rating may seem generous, the wine definitely punches above its price point.
