  November 27, 2021 - Inky dark, rich and concentrated. Lavender aromas with black cherry, dark chocolate, and oak on the palate. Big tannins that still need some time to calm down.

  June 21, 2020 - Although 2017 was a challenging vintage for many winemakers in the Napa Valley, Carter Cellars is consistently doing it right. This is an excellent wine, perhaps as good as 2016, it's a delicious Cabernet. As previously noted, its energetic on the palate yet elegant with ripe fruit blue and blackberry fruit, black cherry, cream de cassis, currant, some licorice with proper acidity. I can't speak for everyone else, but I like it and recommend it.

  September 22, 2019 - As previously noted, this wine is fantastic. Energetic on the palate, but elegant with ripe fruit blue and blackberry fruit, black cherry, cream de cassis, currant, some licorice and spice notes. A Cabernet that is big flavor and energy, yet exhibiting refined elegance. This is the best "Three Kings Beckstoffer" I've had in some time.

  August 16, 2019 - In view of the opinions posted on this website for this vintage, I decided to crack a bottle tonight just to see if this wine would show as good as it did when I tasted it back in June. This was a pop and pour experience and in the glass the color was a vibrant purple red with a fragrant, candy like nose of fresh violets. On the palate, energetic yet elegant ripe fruit, black cherry, black and blueberry fruit, cream de cassis, currant, some licorice and spice notes. This is a young, lively wine that seems to be pretty close to where it was when I tasted it, an outstanding Beckstoffer Cabernet with big flavors and refined elegance. This wine really started to open with some time passing. My opinion remains the same as when I first tasted this wine, it’s is a beauty. 96-97 Points for me. I wouldn’t be afraid of this 2017 vintage, my experiences have been fantastic although some feel this vintage has tended to fluctuate. This Cab is really good.
