November 5, 2020 - Consistent with prior note. If you're going to open this anytime soon, please give it some serious air! Reductive aromas really dominated on the night I opened this, and even 24 hours later, vigorous aeration was necessary to unlock the prettiness underneath. It wasn't until night 3 that this bottle really shone.

July 11, 2020 - Decanted overnight per the winemaker's recommendation. Beautiful, intense aromas. Licorice, orange peel, raspberry, chinese 5 spice. Whatever the American equivalent of "garrigue" is, this wine has it. Medium + body with big tannins.

March 24, 2020 - This never really opened up for me. A bit of barnyard funk, and quite a lot of tannin with some raspberry just peeking out after two days. Probably the most closed down D&R Mourvèdre I’ve had, also the “biggest” - seemed darker, more brooding, possibly higher alcohol. Not sure if that is typical of this vineyard...

December 20, 2019 - Medium-bodied wine that starts with red berry fruit on the tip of the tongue. Some "dustiness" as the wine passes back, Very brief aftertaste.

September 28, 2019 - Double decanted this 24 hours in advance. Aromas of reduction (rubber tires) dominated both on initially popping the cork and on revisiting the wine after the 24-hour double decant. So I turned to the old “pour the whole bottle of wine back and forth between 2 decanters about 20 times” technique to vigorously aerate it. This worked like a charm, and all traces of reductive stink were gone. What was left was a lovely juicy wine with interesting spicy whole cluster aromas. The fruit is just a little more towards the black as opposed to red side of the spectrum, but only when considered against the range of D&R single vineyard Mourvèdres. More Bandol and less Fleurie, if you know what I mean. That said, it’s still elegant and relatively light on its feet. Really good with chicken roasted on a sheet pan with lots of tarragon and onions.
