December 11, 2023 - Not a big fan of barbera but liked this one. The fruit is lovely and the oak well balanced. Thanks Ed!

    October 15, 2023 - Penultimate bottle from a 6 pack.
Juicy and tasty, enjoyed with pizza during the Bengals' win today.
Bright acidity and ripe red and blue fruits. Drink over the next year or so.

July 31, 2023 - From a very good vintage that started with a good spring without too much rain, then a dry summer and a fresh autumn. Harvested 2nd week of September. Pretty nose, aromatic. So much fresh hedgerow blackberry and tart red cherry on the palate! Some blueberry and black cherry notes too. Lovely lift on the finish. Lots of acidity but not unbalanced. Surprisingly long. Throws quite a sediment. 6 years in, this has the stuffing for a good while yet. Fabulous with pizza or a good meaty pasta dish. Very good QPR and a lovely wine.

June 25, 2023 - I like it in spite of the fruit being less Barbera and more plush and almost blueberry and there is a mocha streak in the middle. Off-piste Barbera.

February 18, 2022 - From a glass poured an hour or two ago. Very perfumed with red-blue fruits: raspberry and blackberry, along with red florals and spices. This is pretty light and elegant and I wouldn't guess Barbera blind. The fruit is pure and almost candied. Maybe some hints of something darker and deeper - a bit of tar and maybe some game bird. A new pour shows the same perfume with more intensity, lots of blackberry, game bird, and also maybe a hint of licorice. The palate is light with good fruit, nice sap and energy. Juicy with some savory tones that come out later in the palate and into the finish. Don't like the finish as much at this point - it's got nice focus but it's a bit sour. This is Barbera with a light touch - I'd like to see what this new-ish and buzzy producer does with Barolo. Nose - 5-5.5/6, Palate - 5-5.5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15.5-16.5/20.

Enjoyed tonight with pepperoni pizza, this wine is drinking beautifully, showing plum skin, blackberry, mocha, toffee, and tobacco leaf.
Dark fruits with a lightness due to the refreshing acidity. Gentle tannins showing a foodwworthy wine that makes folks smile.
Delicious, drink through 2024 or so.

December 31, 2020 - Strawberry and camphor on the nose; black cherry and blackberry on the palate, with savory herbs and something earthy on the medium finish, with fairly strong acidity. This is excellent, but it's only an average value at about $40.

Just utterly delicious, this wine expanded upon opening, showing ripened black fruits alongside anise and wet soil.
Beautiful on the long and linear finish, with bright acidity and finely grained tannins. Drink now through 2025+.
