July 19, 2023 - Medium lemon in colour with minor petulance on the glass.
Fairly aromatic for a Chardonnay with initial notes of popcorn, smoke and a hint of lemon & wet gravel. On the palate, medium to full bodied juicy citrus, lemon curd, brioche, somewhat floral, saline, medium acidity with a long finish to spicy citrus & chalky minerality.
Apparently no oak used in the wine making process. Tropical fruit & apple notes not apparent in the tasting of this bottle. Perhaps disappearing towards the end of the drinking window? An appreciated Chablis style from California Chardonnay, but definitely more robust. Well done!
October 21, 2021 - Slow ox in glass for 30 minutes. Nice tropical and stone fruit aromas.
Notes of pear, apple and peach on the medium-bodied palate with additional lime and minerals on the juicy, energetic finish. Sort of a Cali chard meets Chablis - very little oak. Only potential downside is a bit of heat on the finish when it warms up (14.5% octane).
August 25, 2021 - Had with lobster chowder with bacon (excellent) on Vinalhaven. Serviceable but uninspiring.
July 26, 2021 - Too young - better on day 2.
July 10, 2021 - medium straw and clear in color, not terribly aromatic but if you search you can find citrus, cantaloupe, and floral aromas, maybe a hint of saltiness as well. dry with medium-to-high acidity mostly with flavors of citrus and honey, short on the finish
May 29, 2021 - Good value Chardonnay.
May 5, 2021 - Had a weird (vomit) smell the first night. It was gone the second night. Ended up cooking with the rest of bottle.
April 25, 2021 - Juicy, vibrant, and energetic, this is loaded with aromas and flavors of quince, green apple, lime citrus, sweet pears, honeysuckle, and a whiff of dry hay. The weight, tension, and lack of oak screams Chablis, but I love that it's California. Great job, Greg Brewer!
March 18, 2021 - This reminds me of a white Burgundy from Drouhin. Lemon peel, apple, pear, and shortbread on the nose and the flavors. Very bright acidity. Not what you expect from a California chardonnay; much more like Chablis. Should pair well with a citrus marinated chicken dish or possibly a tangy fresh goat cheese dish.
March 17, 2021 - I picked up 6 bottles of this last year. Should have taken a full case. This wine has been a little different from the start in a good way. It drinks beyond its price point.
