March 7, 2024 - Rhône or Nôwhere 2.0 (Malcolm, NE): The color was a brilliant pale ruby color and slightly cloudy. Noticeably lighter in complexion than the others in the CdP flight. Yep…it has that scintillating, heady nose that is so unique to Rayas. Pine needles, wild strawberries, cardamom…woof. This bottle had some VA but I didn’t mind. Perhaps not the most exciting Rayas but I’m splitting hairs here. A very nice pairing with cassoulet, Toulouse sausage and duck confit. Drink now and through 2035. Merci Matt!

February 13, 2024 - This is the weakest pignan I ve had, quite cough syrupy and not the characteristic flavours one would see from this family of wines, not a bad bottle but just can’t place my finger on it. Almost chocolaty flavours after some air. I ve seen some mixed reviews for this vintage. Not sure if it’s bottle variation or vintage? And the wine oxidised a little too quickly from opening over the 4 hours or so of drinking. Again not sure if it’s a vintage thing?

December 9, 2023 - Opened at Octavium in HK. Slow-oxed and served blind.

The table consensus was 'friends of Rayas', and we were right. Guessed 2001 and was just off by one year again.

For me personally, the most enjoyable red of the evening. Gorgeous light colour, lovely red fruit and it had the Rayas family's signature herbaceousness. Feeling generous, and for me it just tipped the scales into the 94 points.

Don't think this will last too much longer - this felt as if it was just about to go downhill, but still a lovely treat and I had a great time with it.

September 25, 2021 - 9th of 12, opened two hours, perfect cork and level. spice and smoke, black raspberry liqueur, lovely line and length, hard to see upside but no rush. F+ (18).......love the singularity of these Rayas wines!
