June 29, 2019 - From the winery brochure: "In our own-rooted Pommard block planted in 1988, we've begun exploring an Old World technique called Palissage, where vertical shoots that would otherwise be hedge are instead tucked back into the vine canopy. The cooler, north-sloping blocks of our vineyard -- where wines of complexity often emerge -- can benefit from accelerated ripening as a result of palissage."

Tasted at the winery: I have to give this a big thumbs up. It has an incredible creamy feel on the palate after the wine passes the tongue. So the tannins are like butter, but not buttery tasting. There is instead for me a kind of dense strawberry, blackberry and rootiness that is balanced with alcohol and tannin. Delightful. I will try to cellar one bottle of this for 10+ years, but doubt I will have the discipline to do so. I am definitely in the 94 - 96 range on this.

June 23, 2019 - Palissage in a technique which brings the vines back under the canopy, it helps to reduce vegetation growth. I was impressed to see such a difference in the concentricity along with certain floral and deep red fruits characteristics on the nose, on the palate I found freshly picked ripe strawberries, lavender, spring herbs and forest floor, a little more earthy than other Beaux Freres sites, the palate was joyful yet with complexity and a long elegant finish. One for the cellar and probably their best bottling.

June 19, 2019 - Tasted at the winery in Newberg, OR. Scents and tastes of fresh ripe strawberries, ripe red raspberries, and vanilla cream. The nose also had a pleasant hint of barnyard lurking in the background which I really enjoyed. Very nicely balanced with light tannins and a medium to long finish. The wine is drinking beautifully now but will last for many years to come.

May 17, 2019 - Willamette Valley May 2019; 5/17/2019-5/18/2019: Different vine management technique on the same vines as Beaux Freres vineyard. Does it make a difference? It took a head-to-head for me to realize it, but the answer is "yes."

More aromatic and fruit-forward than its brother. Lovely, more approachable.
