February 20, 2024 - Better than I expected. Apple and Pear fruit on the nose and palate.

December 18, 2023 - Dinner at Perilla (Chicago, IL): Very peachy -- but in the canned peaches kind of way. Quite sweet, and definitely in the 5th percentile if we're talking about riesling acidity levels. The sweetness feels more like a GKA than Spätlese. Perhaps a bit too in-your-face right now, but enjoyable enough. If this is indeed the second coming of 1959, we'll have to wait 44 years to find out.

November 13, 2023 - Retail $38. Under cork. It has been more than a minute since I popped one of these. Yes, over ten years. Well it was worth the while. Lovely in the glass with both baked apple and the characteristic petrol (along with verve and spunk). Whoa. The palate certainly delivers on the nose's claim with still tons of fruit married in with incredible tartness and just the right amount of sweetness. Whoa.

November 12, 2023 - Retail $45(?). It has been an incredible ten years since I last popped one of these and I was not entirely sure what to expect. Well? Amaze-balls (technical term). Not quit golden (but certainly yellow) in the glass with green apple and loads of that petrol aspect that one expects, even seeks out, in older Rieslings. The palate is sweet, but well short of cloying, with a surprisingly lively acidity and quite a bit of verve. OK. Whoa. The finish is lengthy and complex as one would expect from a wine of this pedigree. Whoa again.

October 22, 2023 - Medium gold. Best with PnP. Lightly fruity with first pour. Not too sweet or heavy. Adding weight after an hour.

2/26/2007 (link)(J.J. Prum Graacher Himmelreich Spatlese) One of the best '03's I have had. They are much higher on '03 in the MSR than we are here in the states. Another touch of sulfur on the nose with some apples and cream. Palate is fat with some slightly dilute flavors but that is all forgotten on the finish where layers of ripe fruit coat your palate. Very intense Spatlese.
