October 18, 2023 - A night at Botrinis, Athens (Botrinis, Athens): From a beautiful magnum.
As always a joy this wine and we love when unsuspecting and especially relatively inexperienced palates collide with it cause the reaction is always beautiful .
We have had this wine 7-8 times over the last few years in both bottles and magnum and has performed flawlessly ( Papies 93-94) and frankly our mood determines the 93 or 94. The wine is pure, saline, mineral, flinty and textbook Assyrtiko but also carries a fatty soft waxy texture. Papas might be the best Karamolengos makes but this is our favourite. 93-94

April 18, 2023 - London Wine Event (Hide, London): From magnum and we have had the joy of following the evolution of this wine over the last 4-5 year sand definitely improving all along. We recently had the Papas single vineyard from 2016, a wine we feel is the best Assyrtiko ever made, and in tastings this (especially from magnum) we understood why this is Artemis Karamolegos favorite bottling. Even better we had this side by side with the 2017 Nyxteri from Hatzidakis ( Papies 93)which is itself a softer and more polished version of Assyrtiko and this Pyritis shown through and was the clear favorite. Flinty as its name says, firm, focussed, proper acidity here with a polished finish, saline and mineral. Bright and full of energy and this will go on for another 10 years with very little to stop it improving. Exceptional wine and albeit not to the level of Papas still mesmerizing. 94 easy and would give any top end Chablis a run for its money.

July 8, 2022 - Love the salinity in this wine, beautiful sharpness and brightness compared to Chablis or Cali Chardonnay. Love it with oysters.

March 31, 2022 - Drank two bottles within a few weeks. While the first seemed just very slightly corked, this second one is clean. I love both Assyrtiko and Chablis, and can appreciate some of the comparisons to Chablis based on the attack, the mid palate however is very far from resembling any Chablis I know. This has the richness and oiliness on the mid palate of a California Chardonnay, or even a cool vintage White Rhone blend with more acidity providing however better balance in my eyes than either of those. Should work great with green olives (ideally at GBs rooftop terrace in Athens...), on its own I would personally opt for a fresher Assyrtiko or white wine with more lift on the mid palate
