December 26, 2022 - Drinking super well after being open for 24hrs. The acidity is ripe but brazing, very lively. Drink one now and save the rest.
July 13, 2021 - Really good, especially on day 2. Great acidity for the vintage, well balanced RS, very enjoyable. Will be even better in a few years.
February 27, 2021 - First tasting of the 2018s. I found this (unknown to me) producer for a reasonable price and was intrigued. Verdict is consistent with prior reviews: very nice but will need time for sure. Displays a pale yellow straw color out of the bottle with low viscosity. Nose is very nice - densely packed with lots of fruit, candied lemon, baking spices, and a hint of burnt match. Palate is great - nicer weight than I was expecting - but at this stage, the wine is just simply too fruity. Even though the acidity was just medium, I really think this needs to lay down for at least 5 yrs to integrate well. I know that young spatlese border on dessert wine but I don't think that's what this is meant be. A fully mature version of this will offer more complex, perhaps even savory, elements and almost definitely merit a higher score.
January 28, 2021 - Excellent now but needs time. Sweetness, acidity and pleasure.
November 16, 2020 - Very good riesling
October 9, 2020 - The palate is dominated by flavors of white fruits, peach, and lime with a pronounced minerality. Lightweight and with only moderate sweetness. In fact, this shows far lighter/less sweet than most Kabinetts. While not as thrilling as the Alte Reben Kabinett, this is still a fine drink in its own right.
Saved a glass under cork in the refrigerator for 4 days. The wine had picked up considerable weight and while not large scaled by any means, it is more mouth filling, the acidity is more integrated and the fruit has turned from white to white and yellow.
June 9, 2020 - Cellar tasting (Cologne): Glass: Gabriel Standard
*** brief notes for my memory, no official CT rating ***
Popped and poured, tasted blind. Nose for me was quite muted that means: non existing. Acidity not yet fully integrated, rather lean, thought 2017. Good, but not special today. 87-88
June 6, 2020 - Ap 14. Lys strågul. Ren med reduktiv på duft. Heftig kons i munn av hvit sødmefull frukt. Stor konsentrasjon og heftig syre. Også her forsvinner sødmen mye i friskheten. Sinnsykt ren og god vin.
February 14, 2020 - Staff recommendation, as clerk said all the other sales people were surprised how good this wine was. Clerk stated it was more on the dry side, then I pointed out but this is 8.5% alcohol, that should be on the sweet side, and he replied yes but it doesn't show it. He was correct. Wine was very nice, well balanced, and I got peach a just a hint of grapefruit, but it wasn't overly sweet either. Noticed the Mosel Report reviews like this wine also. Shared with spouse who did not prefer this wine, don't know why, but she liked it better second day, as more sweetness appeared. To my mind a wine that changes over few days indicates aging potential, especially if wine on the young side. Should age a bit, am tempted to purchase again to find out.
November 8, 2019 - Sweet wine tasting (Restaurant Brunnenstube, Beinstein): Clear, pale watery color. Clean, medium+ intense, youthful nose. Very deep, complex with lots of smoke, citrus, herbs, flint.
Medium-sweet, wonderful laser like high and ripe acidity. Herbaceous, white fruit. Dense and deep with lots of extract, very long. Great potential. 92-93+
