Community Tasting Notes 7

April 6, 2024 - Decanted an hour and drank over another 30 minutes. Great nose of earth, spice & cherry. Medium body & light/medium mouthfeel. Fruit tastes young. A bit of tartness. Seems a bit closed and not fully open. Still tight. Needs more time. Will try in another year. I think there is more upside.

January 22, 2023 - Medium ruby colour. Medium and developing nose with farmyard, hay, stable, earth, mushrooms and wet leaves. Medium taste of red cherry, red plum, farmyard, hay, stable, earth and wet leaves. Medium (+) long and dry finish. High acidity. Medium (+) tannins. Medium body. A very good Priorat. Drink now or over the next couple of years. Goes well with beef or lamb.

November 2, 2022 - Lunch with Jazz (67 Pall Mall, London): Ordered for old-times’ sake - it’s about 10 years since we last had this (bought in Barcelona for a stag do). Bright sweet fruit, fragrant and spiced, lovely supply body, some gentle funk on the nose (enough for interest without being offputting). Very good and would seek out.

February 21, 2022 - To me this is remarkably spiced and fragrant. I would guess some oak coming through but winemaker notes say large foudres, in which case it’s a testament to powerful garrigue. Day 2 the spices took the foreground over the tannic tickle and it was noticeably smoother. Overall this feels like a young aromatic wine with a sharp bite, to enjoy now but I’ll gladly check back in a few years too.

November 16, 2021 - Random wines tasted during service (Oinoscent): The wine shows high intensity and density, ultra funky, gamey, earthy, mineral and iron-y. There is ripe black fruit in the back under the funk/barnyard. The oak shows big here with some heavy spiciness.
In the palate, the wine shows again high funkyness, gamey profile, high acidity, mineral, fresh red and black fruit, earthy, medium to high tannins, medium to long finish
Very fresh and brutally young as it is
