September 2, 2022 - 1972 Bordeaux horizontal tasting: Our first "72" even though this is an NV and hence fruit would be from vintages around / before that year. Was not expecting anything here but I found this to be very good (even I did not see anybody else appreciating this). Golden color but still good freshness and even fine mousse providing a lift, deep fruit notes with orange peel, no oxidization whatsoever. Very impressive for an NV around the 50 year mark.

June 19, 2022 - A private dinner at a friend's (Amsterdam, NL): Deep and rich and concentrated, spicy and so firm and fresh, red fruit, brioche, bright mousse, perfectly lively, an absolutely stunning old Champagne.

May 5, 2019 - This was a gamble, but I couldn’t pass on the chance at a properly cellared bottle of 47 year old champagne. The carbonation was almost completely gone, and it was oxidized to the point that it had more in common with sherry than champagne. However, the wine wasn’t spoiled in any way, and was a quite delicious still wine. I kind of wish I had force-carbonated it to see how it performed as a sparkling wine. I wouldn’t buy it again, but we didn’t have any trouble finishing the bottle, and I have no regrets about the purchase.

December 26, 2015 - Had no expectations of this bottle to be honest. So opened the first of 12 purchased somewhat hesitantly. What a delicious surprise! Fine bubbles, good acidity, length. Was with us for a couple of hours, without flinching. If you can get your hands on some, please get some. Am looking forward to each and everyone of my remaining 11! To boot, 1972 was my wife's and my birth year!
