April 1, 2021 - Cork broke half-way. Noted an odor of vinegar, but previous experience dictated letting it breathe. 3-hours later still cloudy in appearance and vinegar hint - down the drain.

May 15, 2020 - Opened another bottle, let it sit for a good 2 1/2 hours. Cork was about 100% penetrated and was concerned, but it was still fanatastic.

January 18, 2019 - Made exclusively with old-vine Aglianico grapes sourced from the Mirabella Eclano Cru, located originally outside the Taurasi region but later included in the appellation. Fermentation with long maceration in stainless steel, aged in French oak barriques. 14% alcohol.
Deep, concentrated and moderately opaque black cherry color with a developed maroon hue and a rather pale rim. Wonderfully fragrant, perfumed and very attractive nose with complex, developed aromas of wizened dark plums, some leather, a little bit of sweet balsamic VA, light raisiny tones, a hint of prune juice and a touch of baking spices. The wine is full-bodied, subtly sweet-toned and very complex with developed flavors of raisin, baking spices, dried dark fruits, some sanguine iron tones, a little bit of prune, light roasted savory spices, a hint of wizened sour cherries and a touch of earth. The mouthfeel is concentrated by the age and the structure relies both on the high acidity and the firm, grippy and powdery, fine-grained tannins. The finish is juicy, complex and noticeably grippy with long flavors of dried black cherries, some bloody umami notes of raw meat, a little bit of sour cherry bitterness, light plummy tones, a hint of brambly blackberry and a savory touch of dry leather.
An impressive, wonderfully developed and very complete wine that is starting to drink wonderfully now, yet shows great potential for future development as well. Powerful and concentrated, yet not heavy or ponderous one little bit. Very tightly-knit for its age, but still not aggressive or backward. An extraordinary Aglianico. Highly recommended.1 person found this helpful Comment -

January 18, 2019 - After 2+ hours of decanting refined balance, utterly seductive and an instant charmer, very fresh, black currant, balsamico, sweet tones but not overtly so, extremely good balance of acidity, tannins and fruitiness, this vintage shows the kind of heights Aglianico can reach. In a perfect place now but will last.
