Community Tasting Notes 4

July 8, 2021 - 70% Duras and 30% Braucol (aka Fer Servadou). Still youthful purple. Dark fruit, plum, cassis, lots of earthy notes, some cedar, and funk. The nose still seems richer than the palate. The fruit on the palate is a bit brighter and has a good acid backbone. Acidity is medium+ but I don't get the VA another taster did (and I'm fairly sensitive to it), so it would seem he did have an off bottle. This is the last bottle of three I bought at the same time, and all of mine were pretty consistent with about a year between each tasting note. Still a good value if you like rustic style wines.

December 3, 2020 - Wine Wizards Monthly Tasting (Wine Wizards Stockton): VA and badly reduced fecal notes, not sure it was just the bottle or the wine in general. Giving it the benefit of doubt, we did not have a second bottle to try, but that combination of defects rarely occur together in the bottle.

May 12, 2020 - Last tasted 11 months ago and this has really come together. It's still purple in color, but the aroma has developed. Dark berry, some plum, cassis, violets, a little spice and some earthy notes. The palate is lighter than the aroma would suggest and it still has really bright dark berry fruit with good acid. Medium body and fleshy. Really lovely and drinking well now. Clearly built for the near term, but should be delicious over the next couple of years.

June 6, 2019 - Dark fruit and berries, plum, earthy, funk, some spice. On the palate, there's more berries and funk, moderate tannins and good length. Softer, fruitier and more forward than the de Brin 2015 Anthocyane tasted a week ago, but still a young wine that will improve. Tremendous QPR if you like more traditional, rustic styles. Buying more but think it needs 2-3 years to develop, but could see opening a bottle for an impromptu get together with friends and food. A wine that doesn't demand attention but keeps your interest if you're in the mood to think about wine.
