February 5, 2023 - Had alongside the ‘17. I’d say this had more energy, lively fruit, open and juicy. In a good spot now but might develop even more with further cellaring.
December 8, 2021 - Beautiful nose with ripe strawberries, blueberries and cherries and floral tones
Rich taste with violet, cherries, strawberries, the fruit is balanced by the acidity but there are still some tannins that gives the wine some back bone.
April 4, 2021 - Fruity nose with dark cherries, strawberries, violet, and almost a meaty touch in the nose.
Raspberries, dark cherries, strawberries, graphite, herbal touch long aftertaste.
February 28, 2021 - Notes from day 2.
N red fruit, sour cherry, some floral. not a strong as expected but improved with air
P red cherry, little black raspberry, herbs, touch of bitterness
F average finish, mediocre acidity
Overall a decent wine
August 13, 2020 - Magnum. Au restaurant, pas de notes formelles.
Robe cerise presque noire.
July 20, 2020 - This Brouilly - Vieilles Vignes 2016 by Georges Descombes is a 100% gamay wine. Beautiful deep sour cherry color. The nose is a bit monolithic, I expected more complexity. The wine is completely natural and no deviation can be detected. Black fruits (blackberries & cassis) dominate some herbaceous notes of a beautiful freshness and a touch of yellow citrus fruits. The nose foreshadows what the wine will be on the palate… The attack is very sweet & suave. The ripe fruits brings a nice sweetness. In the middle of the mouth, the pretty acidulous juice displays a delicate finesse and some very soft tannins. Light-bodied. Bitterness makes its appearance and sweeps away the rest a little. It slightly unbalances everything. It tickles the inside of the cheeks and the back of the tongue. This bitterness nevertheless greatly contributes to the persistence which is very beautiful. I don't really recommend it as an aperitif: it's a beautiful gastronomic wine. Very good & strongly recommended. You will be proud to serve it to your friends this summer to pair with a beautiful barbecue meat. 88-90pts.

March 22, 2020 - Delicious stuff, especially after 2 hours of breathing.
August 6, 2019 - Great acidity, dried dry red fruit, really nice tannins, elegant herby notes.
I really like this!
July 6, 2019 - A bit young and dry but very drinkable.
